Dorothy's Story

Text size

Our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother, Dorothy Louise Baskett, went to meet her Savior and our Dad on January 15, 2018, at the age of 93.
She was born May 14, 1924, to Ambers and Myrtle Foster, in Dallas, and married our Dad, Max, Maj. USAF Ret., in 1943.  Dad passed away in 1998.  She lived in Lake Kiowa, Texas, for over 40 years, where she made countless, wonderful friends, who she would entertain with her Minnie Pearl, Phillis Diller, and Elvis impersonations.  She volunteered at retirement facilities, shops, and government agencies in the Gainesville, Texas, area.  She was an avid doll collector, and a regular fixture at Oklahoma bingo halls, where she usually won.  She never met a stranger.
She is survived by three sons, Bob, of Dallas, Bill and his wife Thien, of Lake Kiowa, and Bruce and his wife Emily, of Washington, D.C., her brother, Kenneth Foster and his wife Sherley, of Salado, Texas, grand children Bradley, of Garland, Rob, and his wife Holly, of Sachse, Texas, Joe and his wife Connie, of Little Elm, Texas, and Brian, of Lake Kiowa, and great grandchildren Brady, of Sachse, and Matthew, Sarah, and Rachel, of Little Elm.  She had many grand nieces and nephews around the country.  She loved us all, as we loved her, unconditionally.
A memorial service will be held on February 3, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas, 308 E. Broadway. The family suggests, if desired, that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Second Time Around shop in Gainesville or the Indian Creek Volunteer Fire Department in Lake Kiowa.
