Douglas Layne Brooks

Douglas Layne Brooks, 62, of Blanchard, died Monday, August 6, 2018, in Blanchard. The son of George Bowling Brooks and Birdie LaMoyne (Pybas) Brooks, he was born November 19, 1955 in Blanchard, Oklahoma.
Doug graduated from Blanchard High School in 1974 and worked for many years as a sales representative. He was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Doug was an avid supporter of Blanchard Athletics and served as President of the Quarterback Club. He was a big fan of all OU and Blanchard sports, especially baseball. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Myrtle Pybas and O.M. and Bonnie Brooks, and step-grandmother Birdie Brooks; aunts and uncles, Grace and Boyd Nuckels, Montie Jeane Covington, George Gray, Ruby and Bob McAllister, Rabbit Isabell, Mary and Pete Golden, LaVon Brooks, Garth Pybas, J.B. and Ethel Pybas, Frank and Martha Pybas, and Woodrow and Catherine Pybas; and a cousin, Nancy Lynn Nuckels.
Doug is survived by his parents, George and LaMoyne Brooks of Blanchard; two brothers, John Brooks and his wife, Beth, of Gainesville, Texas and Kevin Brooks and his wife, Cheryl, of Blanchard; nieces and nephews, Greg Brooks and his wife, Kenna, of Marlow, Bonnie Rucker and her husband, Eddie, of Gainesville, Texas, Mark Brooks and his wife, Jules, of Nacogdoches, Texas, Emily Hefton and her husband, Dustin, of Blanchard, and Alyson Aberle and her husband, Brett, of Wichita, Kansas; eight great nieces and nephews, Kaylee Brooks, Chloe Brooks, Cooper Brooks, Emmarie Brooks, Shawn Rucker, Makenzie Rucker, Jesse Rucker, and Remington Hefton; aunts and uncles, Doris Pybas of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Oscar Brooks of Blanchard, and Sedall and Rosetta Brooks of Blanchard; numerous cousins; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, August 10, 2018, at the First Baptist Church in Blanchard. Burial will follow in the Blanchard Cemetery.
