Earl Regan Hughes


Memorial graveside services for Earl Regan Hughes, 85, of Gainesville, will be 11:30 a.m. April 13 at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville.
Earl Regan Hughes passed away Dec. 14, 2018 in Gainesville, Texas.
He was born May 18, 1933 in Love County, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Helen Stephens Hughes.
Mr. Hughes was employed by Bill Miller, AMPI and DFA. He retired after more than 45 years of transporting milk from local dairies to the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He was a veteran of the US Army.
After retiring, he enjoyed working with wood, metal and barbed wire. He could fix, make or build anything until he began to have problems with Alzheimer's disease in his later years.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elaine (Gilbert) Hughes; sons Jimmy Hughes and wife Denise of Denison, Steven Hughes and wife Lisa of Sherman, Billy Hughes of Sherman, Bradley Hughes of Era; and grandchildren Jennifer Hughes, Sarabeth Hughes, Cody Hughes and wife Blair, Casey Hughes and wife Tiffany, Evin Hughes and John M. Russell and wife Jayme.
He is survived by his sisters, Inez Crawford of Ryan, Oklahoma, and Ada Belle Ramsey of Terrall, Oklahoma, and a host of nieces, nephes and cousins. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Helen Neu and her son Greg of Gainesville, Sherry Gilbert of San Antonio, and Donna Deurmyer and husband Ron of Denver, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Houston, Riley and Grady Hughes; his sisters Ruby Thurman, Gracie Bruce and Carri Miliken; and granddaughter Brilyn Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his brothers-in-law James Gilbert, James Neu; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, C.E. and Mary Gilbert.
