Mass of Christian Burial for Erlinda Cantu Medina, 66, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Monday, March 20th at Saint Mary's Church in Gainesville. Father John D. Pacheco will be officiating. A Rosary will be held Sunday, March 19th at 6:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Gainesville followed by family visitation from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Mrs. Medina passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at her residence. She was born in Russell City, California on October 20, 1950 to Albert and Petra (Guillen) Cantu. Erlinda moved to Gainesville in 1987 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. She worked for twenty years for GISD as a cafeteria manager. She enjoyed the casino and traveling. Erlinda loved and helped in raising her grandchildren. She also loved cooking and feeding her loved ones. She collected frogs and wind chimes.
Survivors include her husband, Gustavo Medina of Gainesville; daughters, Linda Samaro, Marissa Martinez and Jessica Espinoza all of Gainesville; sons, Gustavo V. Medina and wife, Lynda of Gainesville and Ryan W. Medina of Gainesville; thirteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Manuela Perez, Frances Lopez, Juanita Cantu, Lupe Avalos and Margarita Cantu and brothers, Albert Cantu, Jr. and Henry Cantu. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert, Cantu, Sr., mother, Petra Cantu; brothers, Louie, Jessie and Refugio Cantu; sister, Dominga Castineda and grandson, Patrick Frazier.
