Gary Lynn Burgess

April 25, 1946 - November 17, 2018

Gary Lynn Burgess Gary Lynn Burgess, 72, of Gainesville, passed away on November 17, 2018 at the Renaissance Care Center. At his request, his body was donated for medical research and no services are planned.

Gary was born on April 25, 1946 to Ernest and Dorothy (Case) Burgess in Gainesville. He was a 1964 graduate of Callisburg High School and was a Gainesville resident his entire life. He worked in several jobs throughout his life, most notably, as a machinist. His favorite things were old cars, watching NASCAR, and taking any opportunity to spend time with his family. He was a man of habits, particularly when it came to his meals. He was often at the same place, at the same time, on the same days of the week, where he would usually order the same meal. He was so predictable that, sometimes, the servers would see him drive into the parking lot and would place his order before he even walked in. He always loved a good joke or a prank and could take it just as well as he dished it out.

Survivors include his daughter, Meredith Burgess of Gainesville, son, David Burgess of Sanger, grandsons, Aiden Reed and Davis Burgess, sister, Tammy Garner and husband Kip, of Gainesville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Ryan Matthew, a brother, Richard Gail, a niece, Amanda Parsons, and a nephew, Brandon Burgess.

The family would like to thank the medical staff of North Texas Medical Center, Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Muenster Memorial Hospital, Medical City Denton, and Renaissance Care Center.

So sorry to hear about Gary. Just wanted you to know I enjoyed working with Gary. He was one of the good guys. Lol I have to say he was a creature of habit him and his pimento cheese sandwiches and every so often he'd throw in a spam sandwich. He will be missed, he was such a great machinist he made my job easy as a inspector.
