Glenda Jo (Dillahunty) Vowell

Glenda Jo (Dillahunty) Vowell Glenda Jo (Dillahunty) Vowell of Frisco, Texas, passed from this life on September 5, 2018, surrounded by her children. Born in Canute, Oklahoma on October 26, 1935 to Conrad and Pauline Dillahunty. Glenda graduated from Granite High School and was the first in her family to go to college, receiving her degree from the University of Oklahoma in May 1957.
Glenda married J. Lynn Vowell on December 22, 1956. They embarked together on an 11-year adventure as an active duty Navy couple. Along the way, they welcomed three children, Tawni, Mark, and Chana. When Lynn retired, the family settled in Valley View, TX. Glenda managed kids' activities; she served faithfully at church; she kept the kids, horses, cows, dogs and cats fed, all while teaching full-time.
Glenda taught Remedial Reading, 3rd Grade and Middle School before becoming a pioneer in teaching computers. She was a licensed real estate broker, ran a Christian coffee house, and a steak house.
When Lynn followed a call into ministry in the United Methodist Church, Glenda listened to every sermon, taught Sunday School, contributed to potlucks, and moved to a new church and parsonage whenever the appointment changed.
Glenda had a deep, quiet, and relentless Christian faith. Her powerful testimony came more in the form of living than preaching. No one who entered her home went away hungry, and everyone was treated like family.
Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Mack Dillahunty. She is survived by daughter, Tawni Luke and husband Ray, of Valley View; son Mark Vowell and wife Shannon, of Frisco; and daughter Chana Keefer and husband Mark, of Santa Clarita, CA. and 15 grandchildren.
A service celebrating Glenda's life will be held at 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2018 at First Frisco United Methodist Church, 7659 Preston Road, Frisco, TX 75034. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to First Frisco United Methodist Church.
