Homer Edward Branham

Homer Edward Branham, Jr., 60, better known as "Eddie", passed away on Monday morning, August 6, 2018. Born on December 27, 1957 in Anderson, Indiana, he was the son of Homer Edward Branham, Sr. and Patricia (Stevens) Branham.
Eddie served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army as a member of the Airborne Ranger Division. On December 29, 1984, he married Carolyne Sue Smith in Sanger, Texas. They made their home in Sanger and Eddie served on the Sanger Volunteer Fire Department and worked his way up to Assistant Fire Chief. He also went to work for the City of Sanger where he retired as Superintendent of the Water Distribution Department. After deciding that retirement was not for him, he accepted a position as the Water Distribution Night Operator with the City of Gainesville. He had been with them for three years at the time of his death. When Eddie went to work, it wasn't just about going to work and then coming home, it was about serving the people of the city in which he worked. He wanted to make sure that the job was done right and that the people were satisfied.
Outside of work, his heart of gold carried over into helping others and making friends. He would introduce himself and act like he had known you his entire life and the next time he saw you he would pick that conversation right back up where it had left off. Eddie loved Carolyne and his family and he will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife; an "adopted" daughter Roxanne Lindberg of Sanger; father and mother-in-law Jimmy and Gwen Smith of Slidell; sisters-in-law Janet Easter and Lorie Swanson both of Sanger; niece Mindy Diane Swanson of Sanger and nephew Michael Lynn Swanson of Denton.
A visitation will be held from 7 pm to 9 pm on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Coker Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Church of Christ in Sanger. Craig Waggoner will be officiating the services.
Services are under the direction of Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Online condolences may be made to www.cokerfuneralhome.com.
