Command Sergeant Major Mikeal L. Graham

Sherman- Funeral services for Mikeal Lesley Graham will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 22 at North Park Baptist Church. Rev. David Murphy will officiate with General Edgar Murphy eulogizing. Burial with military honors will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Wigington, Barry White, James Hayes, Shawn Davis, Darren Tankersley, and Billy Reifel. Mr. Graham, 72, passed away Saturday, November 18 at his home in Sherman surrounded by family.

Mike was born August 9, 1945 in Nocona to the late Alfred and Estelline (Tucker) Graham. In 1959, his family moved to Gainesville and he graduated from Gainesville High School in 1964. On June 24, 1966, he and Ellen Giles were married in Gainesville.

Mike had a distinguished career in the US Army that spanned 28 years. He joined the army in August of 1965 and began as a tank loader. He was promoted to Platoon Sergeant in 1973. In 1977, he was promoted to First Sergeant and in November 1984, he was promoted to Command Sergeant Major. After discharge from the army, Mike served several years in the Texas National Guard and also worked at Texas Instruments as a product control manager.

Mr. Graham was actively involved in his community. He was the United Way Coordinator for Texas Instruments, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, and was an active member of North Park Baptist Church.

Mr. Graham is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ellen of Sherman; son, Trent Graham of Sherman; daughter, Jennifer Brockelman and husband Charlie of Sherman; three grandchildren, Jaxson, Benton, and Maddie; and two brothers, Bobby Graham of Gainesville and Randy Graham and wife Jackie of Woodbine. He was preceded in death by his parents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the North Park Baptist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 PM Tuesday at Waldo Funeral Home. The register book can be signed online at waldofuneralhome.com.
