Tillie married her husband Barney on September 14, 1944. Barney came home on leave to marry the love of his life, Tillie, before shipping out during World War II. During the 69 years the McAfee's were married, they spent much of their time traveling, sometimes for months at a time, seeing many parts of the world.
The McAfee's were always an active part of their community wherever they lived. In Sanger, among their many activities, Tillie and a group of her friends formed a group called "Maws Sewing Circle" which was active for many years. The group enjoyed social activities and delighted community members at parades and other community activities.
The McAfee's were engaged in numerous entrepreneurial endeavors including retail, trucking, farming, and other businesses. The McAfee's are best remembered for organizing and building McAfee Butane Company and later real estate development with their longtime friend, Gerald Stockard. Regardless of the business endeavor, Tillie was always a major part of it.
Tillie will be missed by her family and her many friends including those from Willow Bend, her home for the past several years.
