Dear Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd, Lea, Briar, and baby Shepherd,

We're so very sorry for your loss. My husband Mark and I just heard the news last night, and while we unfortunately cannot make it out to Texas for the services, please know that you are all in our thoughts.

Nate served with Mark on the USS Ronald Reagan, so they worked together as nukes, and we would also hang out at parties and barbeques whenever we saw each other. Nate was always so nice and fun to talk to, and we would joke back and forth about our friendly New York-Texas rivalry. Even though that was years ago, and we've all since lived in different states, that camaraderie will always be there, and we can always think back on
... those great times together.

We will forever keep happy memories of Nate, and we will continue to keep you all in our thoughts, as well.

Very Sincerely,

The Wempe's
Cait, Mark, Jason, and Ellie
