Funeral Services for Ronald Edison Raney, 75, of Lake Kiowa, Texas, will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home Chapel in Whitesboro, Texas, with Ricky Patterson officiating assisted by Rev. Rick Carney. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. before the service at the funeral home. Ronnie passed away Saturday, November 26th at Wilson N. Jones Hospital, Sherman, Texas with Sheri and friends by his side.
He was born to Pete and Lona (Florence) Raney on March 3, 1941, in Sherman, Texas. He married Sheri Perry on August 28, 2002 at Lake Kiowa, Texas. Pete and Lona Raney owned Raney Auto before passing it to their son, Ronnie. Raney Auto Company was one of the oldest family owned dealerships in the state of Texas. He was a graduate of Whitesboro High School and North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. He was a member/elder of First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville, Texas. Ronnie was proud to be raised in Whitesboro and would jokingly say, "he liked to smoke, drink and drive fast!". He loved to listen to all kinds of music. Ronnie served 8 years in the Texas National Guard.
Pallbearers will be Hank Lovejoy, William Welch, Josh Campbell, Frank Amthore, Larry McCorkle and Frank Aldridge. Honorary pallbearers will be Smoot Earnhart, Gene Bryan and Jeremy Quatacker.
He is survived by his wife, Sheri Raney of Lake Kiowa; cousins, Jack Campbell and Smoot Earnhart, as well as a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Lona Raney.
