Roy "Ed" Vick
Funeral services for Roy Edward Vick Jr., 81, of Valley View, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Gainesville with Dr. Jeff Langley and Dr. Bennie Slack officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Cemetery in Valley View. The family will receive friends at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Services are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Vick passed away February 11, 2017 in Valley View.
Ed was born January 18, 1936 in Forrest City, AR to Roy Edward and Mary Marguerite (Hargett) Vick Sr. He graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and served in the U.S. Army. Ed married Gail M. Roberts on June 14, 1957 in Dallas. In the late 1970s, Mr. Vick founded Vick Equipment where he enjoyed a successful career specializing in the buy, sell, and lease of semi-truck trailers. He was a gentleman rancher who cherished time spent outdoors, hunting, and fishing. A Deacon in the Baptist Church, Mr. Vick was a passionate supporter of many organizations including: The Gideons International for over 20 years, Claude Jones Memorial Day Nursery, and the fourth-grade boys Sunday School class he taught for many years.
Survivors include: wife Gail M. Vick of Valley View; son Edward Vick and wife Cynthia of Denton; daughter Julie Bratcher and husband Ben of Canton; grandchildren: Ashley Fowler (Jeremy), Ryan Vick (Kelsey), Emily Watkins (Talon), Coleton Vick, Samantha Bratcher, Rebekah Bratcher, and Juliana Bratcher; great-grandson William Fowler; niece Kim Pasche (Phil); and nephew William Ansley.
Mr. Vick was preceded in death by: his parents; son Jason Vick; and sister Diane Ansley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Gideons International or Claude Jones Memorial Day Nursery.
