Walter's Story

Walter Threadgill, Jr. passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on June 23, 2016 at the age of 87.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter, Sr. and Blanche Threadgill and brother, Jerry.
He is survived by five children, Matt Threadgill, Carrie Cecca, Toni Threadgill, Mark Threadgill, and Terri Threadgill. He is also survived by Ann, mother of his children, and current wife of 44 years, Norma, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Walter was born September 12, 1928. He graduated from Forest High School in Dallas and lived in Dallas until he bought a farm in Tioga, Texas in the 1960's. He was in a home improvement business with his brother in Dallas for twenty years and moved to Gainesville in 1980 to work for his son in the oil business. Walter loved to play poker and became quite successful earning a living at it for thirty years. He became ill in 2014 and could no longer play. He was a wonderful husband and father and respected by all who knew him.
He was cremated, and a simple ceremony will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville on Tuesday, July 5th at 3 p.m.

Thanks to Hospice Plus and Gainesville Health and Rehabilitation Center for the wonderful care they gave him in his final days.
