Funeral services for Wayne Franklin Haygood, 80, of Wills Point, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Allan Fuller Funeral Home Chapel in Wills Point with Chaplain Dennis Burris officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Fork Memorial Cemetery near Emory.
He passed away early Wednesday morning, February 22, 2017, at his home, north of Wills Point.
Wayne was born June 30, 1936, in Tatum, Texas, the son of Buddy Louie Haygood and Lillian Irene Adams Haygood. He was raised in Tatum and graduated from Tatum High School. He later graduated from North Texas State University in Denton. Wayne was a veteran of the United States Army. On December 6, 2010, he married Brenda Johnson in Dallas. Wayne was employed by the Dallas Fire Department for fifty-one years, retiring in 2011, as Fire Chief. After retirement, they moved from Dallas to Wills Point. He enjoyed dancing in his spare time. Wayne was of the Baptist faith.
Preceded in death by his parents, Buddy Louie Haygood and Lillian Irene Haygood.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Brenda Haygood, of Wills Point; son, Tadd Haygood, of Dallas; two step-sons, Brent Wilkerson & wife, Danita, of The Colony and Derek Eades & wife, Silvia, of Clarkesville, Tennessee; two brothers; six grandchildren, Cody Wilkerson, Zack Wilkerson, Kaysi Eades, Nathan Eades, Sutton Haygood and Grayson Haygood.
Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning one hour prior to service.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
