YOTTA Langston Lyle

Events

Yotta L.Lyle passed away on December 17, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Gainesville, TX on Oct. 6, 1937. In life, Yotta was as unique as her name and she instilled in her children the same philosophy: "Dare to be different" and stand for what you believe in. There was never a question about where Yotta stood on any particular issue because she made her opinion known. Although she moved to Fort Worth, Waco, Houston, and San Antonio her heart was always in Gainesville. She married the love of her life, Richard, in 1956. Yotta was a loving daughter, wife and mother and devotedly loyal to all who had the honor to call her friend. She loved dogs, children and "old people", and no one more than her adoring husband of 62 years. When inspired by a particular cause she had unwavering tenacity and focus. As den mother for her son Butch's cub scout troop, she lead the troops. She remembered the names of all her scouts the rest of her life. She was especially proud of her work as P.T.A. president of McMurray Elementary School. While there, she received an honorary life membership. She attended beauty school in the early seventies and became a skilled hairstylist. She was also an especially talented artist. Her home was adorned with her beautiful landscape and wildlife paintings. Yotta's signature outfit was a white Columbia fishing shirt and blue jeans. On a special occasion, like meeting her future son-in-law, she broke out her treasured turquoise jewelry. In later years, Yotta enjoyed the beauty and simplicity that can only be found in the natural world. She personally named the wildlife she had grown attached to. G.B. or garage bird was the tufted titmouse that nested in the garage and P.D. stood for porch deer, the young buck she hand fed on the porch. Yotta was an anchor for her family and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her husband, Richard Lyle; son Roy "Butch" Lyle (Mary);daughter Megan Tabak (Adam); and two grandchildren, Richard Lyle and Amelia Tabak. A memorial service in Gainesville will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made in Yotta's honor to:
