BEN TURBEVILLE
A memorial service, including a Masonic Service, for Ben E. Turbeville has been scheduled for Monday, December 19, 2016, 2:30 pm, at First Presbyterian Church, Gainesville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 - 2:15 at the First State Bank Conference Center.
Ben Turbeville passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, Denton, Texas. Ben was born December 4, 1926, to B.C. & Rosa Turbeville. He attended Gainesville schools, attended Gainesville Jr. College, served in the United States Navy, and was based in San Diego, CA. He has been associated with First State Bank for 70 years, most recently serving as a member of the board of directors.
On July 17, 1949, he married Mary Ellen Leonard. Ben and Mary Ellen enjoyed cruising, traveling, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. Ben was the first 33rd degree Mason from Cooke County. He was a member of: the Scottish Rite, York Rite, and Moslah Shrine. He was very involved with the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. Ben was also a member of First Baptist Church in Gainesville.
Survivors include: his daughter and son-in-law Deb and Bill Schweikert of Denton; son and daughter-in-law Tim and Mary Turbeville of Gainesville; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law June and Winnie Sherrill of Gainesville. He has 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Turbeville was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Mary Ellen; brother, Ray Floyd Turbeville; sister, Rose Louise Chiswick; and daughter, Julie Elaine Eberhardt.
The First State Bank Board of Directors will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
