Doug Edward Kirchoff was born August 29, 1943 to Joseph Kirchoff and Wilma Jean Kirchoff in San Antonio, Texas. They moved to Wichita, Kansas then to Dylan, Colorado and finally Doug made his way to back to Texas in 1976 where he lived until his passing on July 10, 2017 at his home in Gainesville, Texas at the age of 73.
Doug is preceded in death by his father Joseph Kirchoff, mother Wilma Jean Kirchoff, his first wife Tamma Kirchoff who was the mother of his son Tad Kirchoff. He was also preceded in death by his second wife Carol Kirchoff until her death and his chihuahua Sissy.
He is survived by his wife Lynn Kirchoff of Gainesville, Texas to whom he was married 21 years, son Tad Kirchoff and Tammy Grisolia of Gainesville, Texas, daughter Shannon and husband Casey Hollis of Gainesville, Texas and son Chris Ax of Gainesville, Texas. Grandchildren Lauren and husband Kirk Wilson of Gainesville, Texas, Lane Kirchoff of Gainesville, Texas, Brianna and husband Chris Nguyen of Gainesville, Texas, Baylee Hollis and Briar Hollis of Gainesville, Texas. Great grandchildren, Ayden Wilson of Gainesville, Texas and Aubrey Nguyen of Gainesville, Texas, 2 siblings Todd Kirchoff of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Ken Kirchoff of Colorado Springs Colorado. He is also survived by his chihuahua Stuart and many friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
Doug proudly served his country in the Airforce and the Vietnam war. Doug had been a ski instructor in Colorado, a jailer for the Cooke County Sherriff's Department and coowner of D & D Drywall until his retirement. Doug recently became a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church in Gainesville, Texas.
Doug was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish which he passed down to his son Tad. He loved to talk and visit and never met a stranger.
Services will be held Monday July 17, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Tabernacle Baptist Church on 305 CR 194 Gainesville, Texas 76240. The family will be receiving guests at Doug's home after the services.
