Jimmy Fread Oliver, 67, passed away in Ennis, Texas on Friday, August 19, 2016.
Jimmy was born in Ennis, Texas on September 28, 1948 to Alvis Thomas and Ethel (Dodson) Oliver. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1967. He went on to graduated from East Texas State University with a Bachelor's in Science Degree. On October 27, 1973 he married Virginia M. Krahl and they have made their home in Gainsville, Waxahachie, Terrell, Fairfield, Palestine and to Ennis in 2015.
He worked for the USDA for over thirty years as a Soil Conservationist. After retirement he worked placing foreign exchange students in homes, in the Palestine Area. He was a member of the St John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Lions Club and Soil & Water Conservation Society. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. He was also a member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society in Palestine.
He is survived by his wife of over forty-two years, Virginia Oliver; son, David T. Oliver and wife, Ann; daughter Ann Oliver Guthrie; four grandchildren: Rowdy, Megan, Shot and Ryan and one brother, Randal Oliver.
He is preceded in death by his parents A.T. and Ethel Oliver.
Visitation was held on Monday, August 22, 2016 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
Mass of the Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St John Nepomucene Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John Dick as celebrant. Interment will follow in Telico Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc.
