Alene Hatcher went to be with her Lord on Monday, April 15, 2019 in Gainesville, Texas.

She was born Joyce Alene Sluder to Roy Lee and Gelema Sluder in Cooke County, Texas on Jan. 27, 1932.

Alene married Jimmy Jack Hatcher on May 11, 1946 in Gainesville, Texas. She then went to nursing school and worked as an LVN and EMT for many years at Gainesville Memorial Hospital. Alene was a dedicated volunteer in her community including her longtime church, Temple Baptist. Alene was an advocate for children in the non-profit CASA and served as a Volunteer Grandparent at the Gainesville State School. She also served as a Citizen's Police Academy volunteer and was an advocate for Alzheimer's patients across North Texas.

A visitation with the family will be from 9-10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Nelson Grove Cemetery with a service following at 10 a.m.

Alene was preceded in death by Jack Hatcher her husband of 60 years; daughter, Paula and son-in-law Jackie Morgan; and her sister Carole Cole.

Alene is survived by two daughters; Phillys Hatcher of Coppers Cove, Texas and Debra Hatcher of Sherman, Texas; two sons, Jimmy Hatcher and wife Becky of Baird, Texas and Guy Hatcher and wife Tamera of Bartonville, Texas; two sisters, Judy Brown of Denison, Texas and Eugenia Hall of Gainesville, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 3 great, great-grandchildren.
