On Wednesday morning, April 6, 2022, the world lost a beautiful ray of sunshine, Ashley Dawn (Harris) Hughes at the age of 39. She battled her cancer with grace and strength. Ashley's journey in life began in Denton on January 13, 1983, the daughter of Kevin and Teresa (Calabrese) Harris.
Ashley grew up in Whitesboro and was a graduate of the American Heritage Private School. She met the love of her life Justin Hughes on February 6, 2006 and they married on February 19, 2016 in Marietta.
Ashley was full of life and had an infectious smile. She never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. If you ever met Ashley, you would never forget her selfless and caring personality. You would never have known she was having the fight of her life. Ashley had a passion to help not only others, but to rescue animals. She raised different exotic birds including her favorite cockatiels "Turkey" and "Mohawk". Ashley also loved the beauty of all different breeds of horses and enjoyed riding them. She loved traveling with Justin and enjoying their many great adventurers. Her favorite thing to do was eat at different venues sampling a variety of foods. Although Ashley had many different interests, the love for her family and friends was indisputable.
Ashley was preceded in death by her mother, Teresa Logue; grandfather, Jerry Harris; and grandmother, Barbara Zackary.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her husband, Justin Hughes of the home; daughter, Samantha Taylor Cooper of the home; father, Kevin Harris of Gainesville; brothers, Chad Greer and wife Krystal of Era, TX and Ryan Logue of Whitesboro; grandmother, Shirley Harris of Gainesville; grandfather, Scott McMahon of Gainesville; mother-in-law, Joann Hughes of Marietta; father-in-law, Corkey Elliott of Marietta; sister-in-law, Leta Mullennex and husband Nathan; nephews, Chad Greer, Jr. and Kyle Greer; nieces, Morgan Greer, Landry Wofford, and Shannyn Wofford; uncles, Kellin "Bus" Harris, Jeff McMahon, Marc Calabrese and wife Teri James, Kenny Calabrese and wife Jody, Jeffrey Calabrese, and Sammy Calabrese; aunts, Cindy Logue and husband Dale and Ronda Richeson and husband Jeff; and cousins, Kelliney Harris and husband Shane, Karissa Gipson and husband Ryan, Brooke Miller and husband Cody, Jeremy Harris, Kelly Harris, and Kellin Colby Harris.
Services to celebrate Ashley's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7, 2022 at the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel in Marietta with Marc Calabrese officiating.
Honorary bearers are Jeremy Harris, Shane Harris, Ryan Gipson, Cody Miller, and Kellin Harris.
