Billye Ruth (Austin) Hudson, 93, went to be with our Lord on June 23, 2022, in Gainesville, Texas. A visitation will be from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Coker Funeral Home in Sanger. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, July 1, 2022, at the Slidell Baptist Church. Pastor Todd Stevens will officiate the services. Mike McPeek, Rene Pruett, Bert Pruett, Casey Harrington, Tim Fletcher, and Leslie Fortenberry are serving as pallbearers.

Billye Ruth was born March 30, 1929, to William Thomas Austin and Hattie Samantha (Green) Austin, near the Lois Community in Denton County, Texas.

Billye Ruth graduated from Sanger High School at the age of 16 and earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Texas in Denton at the age of 19. Shortly after receiving her degree, she was united in marriage on February 2, 1949, to Carl Franklin Hudson in Bolivar, Texas. She served Wise County School District for two years as the county librarian and was a member of the faculty of the Slidell School District for 26 years. Her interests mainly were her family, whom she loved dearly, serving her church, landscape gardening, and travel. Memberships include The Rebecca Crockett Chapter, NSDAR, Master Gardener Association, Wednesday Study Club of Sanger and Yoga Group at Sanger Senior Center were important in her retirement years. She was a 5th generation Texan, so genealogy was a special interest.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Thomas and Hattie Austin; her husband, Carl Franklin Hudson; and her sister, Faye Austin Fox, and great-nephew, Kevin Kemp.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her daughters, Carla Bullard and husband Tim of Rosston, Texas, Paula Utz of Columbia, South Carolina, and Susan Elliott of Roanoke, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Bullard Gassett and husband, Justin of Grapevine, Matthew W. Bullard and wife Lacie of Argyle, Robert Utz of Columbia, South Carolina and Taylor Elliott of Dallas; 5 great-grandchildren, Julia, Jack, and Jocelyn Gassett, Camden and Gage Bullard, one niece, Sylvia Reiser of Arlington.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many who will miss her dearly.
