Charles Edward Sims, 82, of Whitesboro, Texas was called to his eternal home on Monday, November 6, 2023.
Charles was born on March 15, 1941 in Gainesville, Texas to Ralph and JoAnn (Dutton) Sims. He was a graduate of Callisburg High School and attended Cooke County College. He served proudly in the United States Army for six years. Charles worked for Phillip's 66 in Gainesville for 22 years and then Callisburg School District for 30 years as a mechanic. He enjoyed spending time with his family and being outdoors, searching for arrowheads, hunting quail, fishing, and camping with his boys when they were growing up. Charles liked tending to his cows and riding horses.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Sims of Whitesboro; son, Chuck Sims of Whitesboro; son, Steven Sims and wife, Kristie of Lindsey; son, Kevin Mills and wife, Kim of Marietta, OK; daughter, Cherishe Baker of Whitewright; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters, Sue Cunningham and Nancy Kay Perryman; sister-in-law, Bonnie Fleeman and husband, Jesse; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and JoAnn Sims, sister, Margaret Staley, and brothers-in-law, Jerry Mack Staley, William Cunningham, and Gary Perryman.
A memorial service honoring Charles will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro, officiated by Bro. David Arp and his wife Karen.
