He was born in Gainesville and attended schools in Gainesville.
He attended Cooke County College after graduating high school.
David took his last ride early Friday morning on Feb. 21, 2025. A noble warrior who lost the battle with cancer.
He enjoyed trips by boat, cruises and he and his wife visited many countries.
He had a natural green thumb and he planted many trees.
He loved bulldogs. He was a carpenter, electrician and a jack of all trades.
He loved his family and friends and his Harley Davidson, and especially his Stacy, who called him Dad.
He retired from the City of Sherman.
David was known lovingly by family as "Beaver."
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Smith Shaw; sister, Brenda Shaw Sutton and Lloyd Sutton, of Gainesville; and brother-in-law Mark A. Smith and Kim, of Fort Worth; and sister-in-law, Diane Smith, of Fort Worth.
He was preceded by his parents, BP Shaw and Betty Shaw; and brother, Ronnie Shaw, of Gainesville.
He has many family members in Texas, Oklahoma and California, including second cousins.
David donated his body to science and there will be a memorial at a later date.
