Gainesville - Donald David Lindsay, 86 of Gainesville, TX passed away on March 26, 2026 in Gainesville, TX.

He was born to Vernon and Margaret Lindsay on May 6, 1939.

Donald graduated from Gainesville High School, Gainesville, TX in 1957.

He is proceeded in death by his Father, Vernon Lindsay, Mother, Margaret Lindsay and sister Suzanne Henry.

He is survived by his wife Isabel Lindsay of Gainesville, TX and three children, Jennifer Aslin (Trevor Aslin) of Texarkana, TX, Brian Lindsay (Tanya Lindsay) of Saint Jo,TX, Carla McCage (Patrick McCage) of Lindsay,TX and his sister Bettye Vaughan of Sherman, TX.

Donald is also survived by his eight grandchildren. Preston, Joshua, Reagan, Austin, Amy, Atticus, Sydney and Madyson. He had four great grandchildren, Lilliana, Elizabeth, Carter and Avery.

Donald attended Texas A&M University, where he was a proud member of the Corps of Cadets. He went on to serve in the United States Navy and later with the Merchant Marines, traveling the world and embracing a life of adventure and service. In his professional career as an Electrical engineer in the oil field he traveled throughout the world and also lived abroad in several different countries.

He was known for his love of travel, his strong sense of duty, and for telling anyone that would listen stories of his younger days.

He was dearly loved by family and friends and left a lasting impression on everyone that knew him.

His life of service, curiosity, and love will never be forgotten.

He was a lifetime member of the Gainesville VFW.

A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, 2026 from 6pm-9pm at the VFW in Gainesville, TX. In lieu of flowers donations can be made directly to the VFW.
