Doris Jean Lester, 87, of Gainesville, Texas was called home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Jean was born on February 14, 1934 in Woodbine, Texas to Alford Ralph and Mary Bell (Thompson) Hite. She was a member or the Mount Zion Baptist Church. Jean loved to travel, she enjoyed seeing new places. She especially liked going on cruises and going to casinos. She was an excellent cook and loved to share her cooking skills with her family and friends, her specialty was her pies and cakes, everyone raved about them. Jean was also an avid gardener and loved working in her flower garden, especially her roses.

She is survived by her son, Mike Allen Lester and wife, Marie Elise of Baytown, grandchildren, Charles Garner Lester, Joel Marcel Lester, John Garner Lester III, and Kristina Togia and her four great-grandchildren, Luna 'ava Kay Aulelei, Ocean Tanoa, Talmane Rain and Siva Ali'i.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, John Garner Lester Sr., son, John Garner Lester Jr., and siblings, Clarence Hite, Betty Lou King, Alice McLaughlin, Patsy Ulmer, and Ralph Hite, Jr.

Graveside services honoring Jean will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 20, 2021 at Collinsville Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Tony Norman. A time of visitation will be held at Meador Funeral Home of Whitesboro from 6:00 PM To 8:00 PM on Thursday, August 19, 2021.
