Edward Ernest Carel Sr.

Denison - Edward Ernest Carel Sr., 75, went home to be with the Lord on April 24, 2016, surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 27, 2016, 1:00 p.m. at Parkside Baptist Church in Denison.

Edward was born September 10, 1940 in Keokuk, IA to the late Edward W. Carel and Mary (Cochran) Carel. 

He worked for Wonder Bread and Hostess for 30 years as a delivery driver until his retirement.  Edward began working as a school bus driver in 1992 in Knoxville, IL and Gainesville, TX through 2014. In 2004 Edward and Verna moved from Illinois to Gainesville to be near family.   He was a member of Parkside Baptist Church in Denison and a past member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg, and Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville.  Edward was a devoted husband and father, who adored his family.  In his free time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling with his wife. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends for the impact he made upon each of their lives.

Edward is survived by his wife, Verna Carel of Denison; daughter,  Christine Carel of Germany; daughter, Angela Carel; son, Ronald Blackburn and wife, Maria of Fredericksburg, VA; daughter, Diane Kostrzewa of Suffolk, VA; son, Mike Blackburn and wife, Leslie of Portsmouth, VA; son, Edward E. Carel Jr. and wife, Gretchen of Denison; daughter, Mary Carel of Dallas;  sister, Connie Clark and husband, Curtis of Keokuk, IA; grandchildren, Sophia, Tatiana, Daniela, Alex, Evan, Christopher, Claire, Nathan, Michael, Kristy, Cameron, Jacob, Sophie, Vivian, Amelia, Elsie Jane, Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Rylynn and Kara.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Parkside Baptist Church in Denison.
