Funeral services for Gladys Ann Smith, 68, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Matthew Barker officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Whitesboro under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at 6:00 PM Thursday, February 27, 2020 at the funeral home.
Gladys was born in Brownsville on April 6, 1951 to Charles and Rosie Smith. She died on February 24, 2020 in Gainesville.
Gladys is survived by her son, who she loved more than life, Charles Wayne Smith and his wife Katy; grandchildren Haley Hensley, Cash Smith, Jade Smith, Judah Smith, and Marina Del Ray Smith. sisters Penny, Peggy, Julie, Lisa, and Jeannie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Gladys worked at North Texas Medical Center for many years. She loved being helpful and being needed. That showed in her family life, as her home was always open to her family. Gladys loved all of her journeys in life. She will be greatly missed, and her absence forever felt. There are no words to describe the impact of her absence in all of our lives. She was loved and cherished by many.

i wasn't family to Gladys but any time i did see her, she sure did make me feel like i was! Gladys, you will be so greatly missed. words cannot describe the sadness i felt whenever i just heard the news. rest easy sweet angel. prayers to the family ❤️

I’m so sorry to hear Gladys passed away. She always gave me a big hug in the morning at work and scratched my back . She always gave me encouragement about my studies. She was a great lady that will be sorely missed. I pray for her family. Linda Wilson
