Glenda Watson Obituary

Gainesville - Glenda Watson, 81, of Gainesville, Texas, passed away April 13, 2025 at her son's home in Whitesboro, Texas surrounded by loved ones. She battled dementia for many years and has finally been set free from this disease. She was born on August 20, 1943 in Paducah, Texas to Kenneth and Emalene (Wilson) Garrett.

Glenda married Tom Watson on November 23, 1967. She attended Cooke County College (NCTC) and earned an Associate's degree. She had many jobs early on but her most loved job was running the Buried Treasures Thrift Shop and The Bluebonnet Room (Joe Walter's Workshop) where she taught vocational skills to adults with disabilities. Glenda was always a fierce advocate for those with disabilities and stood with the underdog to make sure nobody ever felt left out.

Glenda is survived by her son Kenneth and wife Jamie of Whitesboro, TX; son-in-law Dewayne Skaggs of Callisburg, TX; sister Vada Wilson of Gainesville, TX; sister-in-law Barbara Garrett of Red Oak, TX; brother Johnny Garrett and his wife Kathy of Woodbine, TX; sister Kelly Crow and her husband Andy of Ft. Worth, TX; grandchildren Carly, Anna, and Gabe Watson of Whitesboro, TX, Collyn Skaggs and wife Madison of Callisburg, TX, Kacy Kimberlin and spouse Clay of Whitesboro, TX; honorary grandchildren Drew Crow and Jordan Crow Frost; two great-grandchildren and one on the way, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents; her spouse Tom; her daughter Sarah Skaggs; and her brothers Larry Garrett, Don Garrett, and Randy Garrett.

The family will receive friends at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Fairview Cemetery of Gainesville, Texas on Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. with Johnny Moore officiating.
