James Daniel Barnett, 56, of Whitesboro, Texas, passed away peacefully after a brief, sudden illness, on October 17, 2023, surrounded by family and friends.
James was born August 3, 1967, in Denison, Texas, and grew up in Denison and Gainesville, Texas. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1985.
James worked for 20+ years for Atmos Energy. Over the years he formed many great long-lasting friendships there. His co-workers were not just workmates, they were truly his friends.
James had many hobbies, but his passion was bowling, and he excelled at it. He participated in many tournaments, and amazingly bowled (15) 300 games. He truly cherished the many life-long friends he made during his many years of bowling. Those who bowled with, or against him, said that not only was he a great bowler, but that he was an even better person.
Cocky, yet humble; quiet, yet with a funny, dark sense of humor; James was overall just a great human being, and a kind, gentle soul who will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
James was predeceased by his father, Johnny Ray Barnett, and his nephew, Michael Todd Barnett. He is survived by his mother, Maria Lana Barnett of Point, Texas; sister, Jodie Lynn Hartman (David Hartman) of Point, Texas; brother, Johnny Ray Barnett, Jr. (Cesar Cuevas) of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
No funeral or memorial service is planned at this time.
