Collinsville - James Bert Odom, age 67, of Collinsville, passed away on June 10, 2026.

James was born April 14, 1959 in Fort Worth, TX. He grew up playing in the creeks of Denton County and graduated from Sanger ISD. James joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served until 1980. His girlfriend, Reta Horner, travelled to see him discharged on the 4th of July and they were together ever since. The couple was married February 21, 1981.

James had a successful career in the oilfield that lasted over 35 years with Rowan and Ensign. He was promoted all the way to a Rig Superintendent by the time he retired. His hobbies included camping, gardening, traveling, and following sports. A great deal of his time was spent fixing things around the farm and tending to the animals, but the most important thing in life to James was his family. He never missed a family or sports event, or a chance to ride around the farm with them. He cherished every moment he had with family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and dogs.

Survived by: wife Reta Odom; his beloved dog Tess; son Johnny Beauten (Shelly); daughter Christina Everett (Ernest III); grandchildren Victoria Crockett (Tanner), Jonathon Beauten (Jessee), Justin Adams (Celina), Ailie Adams, Landon Beauten, Brynnah Adams (James), Kirstan Everett (Robert), Jacob Hutchins (Haley), Kaitlynn Everett (Blake), and Kennady Everett (Hadyn); 16 great-grandchildren; sisters Julie Huddleston, Betty Booker, and Nancy Savage; brothers Randy Odom and Ricky Odom; sisters-in-law Debbie Hermes (Ralph), Jana Horner, and Ella Horner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by: parents Bert and Edna (Thomison) Odom; and brothers-in-law Bill Horner, Jim Horner (Diane), Ronnie Horner, Wesly Booker, and Russ Huddleston.
