James Harrel Neese Obituary

James Harrel Neese, age 90, of Lake Kiowa, Texas went home to be with his Savior on Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Born on October 8, 1934 in Bear Creek, Texas. Harrel was the beloved son of T.B. and Audrey Neese. He was raised in the small town of Atlanta, Texas where he was surrounded by a strong faith, commitment to community and hard work, which he carried throughout his life.

Harrel's walk with the Lord began as a young child, where he was saved by faith in Jesus Christ at First Baptist Church.

Mr. Neese was an outstanding high school athlete, lettering in football, basketball and track. He went on to receive a degree in pre-law from East Texas State University. He served in the 49th division with the National Guard for thirteen years and was called into active duty with the Army during the Berlin Crisis. Later he started his civilian career by forming his own company, Nesco Food Brokerage, where he worked until the last few years of his life.

On June 20, 1958, Harrel married the love of his life, Juliene Trussell. Harrel was a loving and devoted husband and father always prioritizing his family above all else. His commitment to service in his church was also steadfast throughout his life. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to travel with his sweetheart.

Mr. Neese was preceded in death by his parents T.B. and Audrey Neese; sister Betty Jones; brother John Neese.

Harrel is survived by his wife Juliene Neese of Lake Kiowa, Texas; son Brandt Neese (Shawn) of Frisco, Texas; daughter Nicole Shrauner (Charles) of Plano, Texas; daughter Paulette Hill (Billy) of Little Elm, Texas; sister Nancy Zuber (Kenny) of Roswell, New Mexico; grandchildren: Blake Shrauner (Carly) of Plano, Texas, Brent Shrauner (Hannah) of Plano, Texas, Cole Neese of Frisco Texas, Lane Neese of Plano, Texas, Bronson Hill of Little Elm, Texas, Grayson Hill of Little Elm, Texas, Charis Hill of Little Elm, Texas; 1 great grandchild Jordan Shrauner of Plano, Texas.

Harrel will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He exemplified a man of character and one who always wanted to share his faith in Jesus Christ. Psalm 116:15

A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, with Pastor Neal Jeffrey officiating. A visitation will be held at the church beginning at 1:00 PM. Burial will occur at DFW National Cemetery on Thursday March 20, 2025 at 9:00 AM.
