Kanita Ann Davis Maxwell passed peacefully from this earth on February 19th in Gainesville. She will be missed yet never forgotten.

Born July 12, 1934 in Thackerville, OK, Kanita embraced all aspects of life. She was a graduate of Thackerville High, and didn't hesitate to get out in the world to make a life for herself.

Kanita's career was colorful and varied. She was Assistant to Sen. Ralph Yarbrough in Washington, DC, when she met her first husband, Robert Davis.

Together they had one son, Allen. After Robert's death, Kanita and son made their way to Gainesville to start a new life, which included driving a school bus, working at WalMart, being a school crossing guard, and serving as Assistant to Gainesville Memorial Hospital administrators, Gerald Culwell and Bill Abbott for over 30 years.

She married Mack Maxwell in 1990.

Kanita defined the word VOLUNTEER. She was a member of Lions Club and Soroptimist Club of Gainesville for over three decades, and served several non-

profit organizations with her spirit and can-do ways.

Kanita is survived by Allen and Renee Davis and 11 grandchildren. A complete list of surviving family can be found at meadorfuneral.com.

Kanita's Celebration of Life will be March 22, 2025, 11a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Gainesville. Flowers or memorial gifts to Lions Club, Stanford House, or VISTO are appreciated.
