Rosary and Vigil was held at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Yosten passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2019. Services were directed by Scott Funeral Home in Muenster.
Born June 23, 1924 in Muenster to the late Robert and Agnes Swirczynski Yosten, Bud was one of nine children raised in the Muenster area. He attended Sacred Heart School and later worked on the family farm and at Cooke County Electric Company. He joined the US Army during World War II and served from 1948 to 1950 in US occupied Japan. Upon his return, he returned to his job at the CO-OP, where he worked for a total of 43 years. He married Dorothy Mae Walterscheid on May 12, 1954, as the first couple to be married in the present Sacred Heart Church. They enjoyed raising their family of five children in Muenster.
Bud enjoyed music, being part of a small band in his early years and sharing this passion with his family throughout his life. Through his influence, many of his children and grandchildren play instruments and enjoy getting together for family "jam sessions". Bud also loved the outdoors, especially going fishing with family and friends. He fished with his sons through the end of his life and loved every moment. He enjoyed rock collecting and proudly displayed his fossils and arrowheads in and around his home. He also had a love of aviation and collected airplane memorabilia, especially relating to wartime. He never passed on an opportunity to fly with friends who would take him along on an afternoon flight. Finally, Bud's passion for people has to be mentioned. He genuinely loved spending time talking with people, getting to know them and telling stories about the old days.
Bud is survived by daughters: Karla Stevenson of Muenster and Kerri Snyder and husband Dan Snyder all of Muenster; sons Arnold and wife Kathy Yosten of Aledo, Gene and wife Linda Yosten of Muenster, and Troy Yosten of Whitesboro; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Walterscheid Yosten; his brothers and sisters: Angeline Yosten Wiesman Reiter, Albert Yosten, Stan Yosten, Leonard (Spike) Yosten, Paul Yosten, Martin Yosten, Larry Yosten, and Dorothy Mae Yosten Holland; and his granddaughter Elizabeth Stevenson.
Pallbearers were: Martin Yosten, Matt Yosten, Bernard Yosten, Joel Yosten, Mike Yosten, Greg Yosten, David Yosten, and John Yosten, all Bud's nephews.
