Luann Shortnacy of Gainesville, Texas, was born July 12, 1938, and passed on January 26th, 2025, at age 86 . She was blessed to have lived a full and vibrant life, with 68 years of marriage, and 84 fully, independent and functional years, until a massive stroke changed everything in an instant on Sept 6th, 2022. Even though Luann was totally dependent for all of her care over the past two and a half years, and resided in a nursing facility, she always remained optimistic that she would eventually walk again and be able to return home. Her surprisingly positive attitude made the unfortunate situation far easier to bear. As much as she will be missed, it is a joyful feeling to know that she is once again singing, dancing and rejoicing in her "whole again" body.

Luann is survived by her husband, Bill, of 68 years, who was incredibly devoted and faithful with his daily visits to the nursing home and assistance with her care over the past two and a half years, her daughter Leann Jackson and son-in-law, Mark Jackson, son Bart Shortnacy and daughter-in-law Jackie Shortnacy, daughter Lisa Mulkey and son-in-law, John Mulkey, grandsons Che' Obiako and Turner Mulkey, and granddaughters Chloe Jackson, Lindsey Richardson, Lauren Cowling and her husband Jeff Cowling, great granddaughters Addyson and Landry Richardson, and Sullivan, Taylor and Dane Cowling. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frances and Lucille Mosley and one brother Douglas Mosley.

In keeping with Luann's loving and generous spirit, it was her decision to donate her body to medical science research through the UT Southwest Will Body Program. A Memorial service will be held at Whaley United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas on February 15th at 12 noon. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Mack Barnhart, Billy Dollar, Gary Hinkle, and Terry Hutcherson. Lunch will be served in the church reception hall following the service.
