Mark Allen Obituary

His Lord said to him, "Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord." (Matthew 25:23)

Mark Allen joined his Lord and Savior on February 5, 2025 at the age of 49. Mark was born on November 26, 1975 in Temple, Tx to Art and Cherie Allen.

Mark was the cherished husband of Angela Allen for almost 25 beautiful years. They were married on August 12, 2000. They had 2 daughters, Skylar Jade Allen (23) and Avery Shay Allen (19). He always said his daughters were his best accomplishment in life. If you knew him he was sure to tell you all about his girls and how they were warriors in everything they did. His Wife and daughters will miss him dearly but know he is flying with Jesus. He is their angel now!

Mark had a remarkable career in baseball. During his career, he totaled over 25 seasons in coaching, scouting and player development in collegiate and professional baseball, impacting the careers and lives of hundreds of pitchers. He shared not only his knowledge of the art of pitching but also shared his faith with countless players over the span of his career. Mark's coaching stops included St. Gregory's University (1998-1999), Northlake Junior College (1999), Frank Phillips College (2003-2004), North Central Texas College (2004-2008), the Northwoods' Wisconsin Woodchucks (2007), Seminole State College (2008-2010) and the University of Illinois (2019-Present). Mark spent nine seasons in professional baseball 8 of which were with the Cleveland Indians as a scout, cross checker, national pitching cross checker and pitching coordinator (2010-2019). Mark spent his final year in professional baseball with the San Francisco Giants as the pitching coordinator in 2019. The impact he has made on so many players is his legacy that will continue on for years to come.

Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Cherie Allen. Mark is survived by his loving wife, Angela Allen, daughters Skylar and Avery Allen, brother Paul Allen (Clarissa), mother and father-in law Teresa and Thomas Walker, sister-in-law Jennifer Velasquez (Jesse), nieces Taytum Allen, Caroline Velasquez, Laci Velasquez and Elaina Hargrove, nephews Dawlson Allen, Brenham Allen and Dylan Velasquez.

A Celebration of Life will take place Tuesday February 11th at 4:00 pm at Colonnades Club, University of Illinois Memorial Stadium, Champaign, IL.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
