R.D. Davis Obituary

R.D. Davis, 90, died Tuesday, February 23, 2016.

He was born on 2/2/1926 to Will Herman Davis and Sarah Della Cook Davis. He grew up on a farm near Capps Corner and attended Cottonwood School. He worked in the oil field until retiring from Galloway Oil.

He served in the Navy during World War II.

He married Isla Jo Martin on October 16, 1956.

His greatest joy was his family. He was proud of his 15 grandchildren. He was a kind, patient, loving man with a wicked sense of humor.

R.D. is survived by his children: son, Kelly Davis and wife, Karen of Muenster; daughters, Nancy Schoppa and husband, Ira of Saint Jo and Jill Dlott and husband, Keith of Plano; grandchildren: Joe (Lindsay), Andy (Jamie), Stephen (Ashley), Isaac, Michael, Aaron, Mark, Thomas, and Sarah Davis, Maria, James and Zane Schoppa, and Kaitlin, Sam and Elizabeth Dlott; and his sister Shirley Wisdom.

His parents, wife and sister, Mirtie Ivins preceded him in death.

Funeral services are Saturday, February 27 at 10 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Saint Jo.

Memorials may be sent to the Saint Jo ISD Educational Foundation or Saint Jo Fire Department.
