Randy Joe Sons, 67, of Sanger, Texas, passed into the arms of his Savior on Sunday, April 16, 2023, in Dallas, Texas. The son of Jesse Sons and Dolores Ann Sturm, Randy was born on Feb. 24, 1956, in Gainesville, Texas.

Randy was a Class of '74 graduate of Sanger High School and a member of the Bolivar Baptist Church in Sanger, Texas. On April 6, 1985, he married Karen Vandagriff in Bolivar, Texas. He was also an Equipment Operator for Denton County Road & Bridge for 11 years.

Randy was a hardworking outdoorsman who enjoyed farming, caring for all the farm animals, and bringing in strays to care for. He loved his family, friends and church dearly. It was difficult to be unhappy around him because he had such an infectious smile! Randy was a very kind person with a servant's heart.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two daughters, Brooke Sons of Denton, and Katie Sons of Sanger; One son, Travis Sons and wife Jodi, of Sanger; One sister, Dena Nichols, and husband Scott, also of Sanger; and mother-in-law, Threeca Vandagriff of Sanger. One grandson, Dillon Maxwell of Sanger, and two nephews, Ethan Scheffler and Kyle Scheffler, also survive him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023, from 6-7:30 p.m. at Bolivar Baptist Church in Sanger, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Bolivar Baptist Church in Sanger, Texas. Pastor Dickie Amyx will officiate the service.

Pallbearers for the service are Michael Grace, Ryan Thacker, Michael Sons, Shay Hassel, Mike Pennington and Chad Sons. Honorary pallbearers are Richard Sons, Bob Montgomery and Jesse Acevedo.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the Sanger Education Foundation (https://sangereducationfoundation.org), First Refuge Ministries located at 713 S. 5th Street, Sanger, TX, or a charity of your choice.
