Denton - Ronnie Arthell Williams, age 80 and resident of Denton, passed away February 25, 2026 in Denton.
Ronnie was born April 4, 1945 in Dallas and grew up in Garland. He joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served during the Cuban Missile Crisis and two tours in the Vietnam War. Mr. Williams then began his career in law enforcement. He spent time in Garland, Sherman, and Gainesville, retiring after 30+ years of service. Also, during this time, he received his Associates Degree from Abilene Christian University. Mr. Williams retired to Denton with his wife. The couple enjoyed camping at Lake Ray Roberts and fishing at Lake Texoma.
Survived by: wife Vickie Williams of Denton; daughter Cheryl Meyers (Coby) of Bridgeport; daughter Jennifer Bridges (Jody) of Hickory Creek; grandchildren: Ryan, Justin, and Logan; and great-grandchildren: Ryder, Ronyn, and Phoebe.
Predeceased by: parents Marion and Gladys (Kennedy) Williams; son Tyler A. Williams; and brother Earl Williams.
Services are scheduled for Thursday, March 5, 2026. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to a funeral beginning at 11:00 AM, at Hickory Creek Baptist Church in Denton. A committal service with military honors will begin at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 5, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Woodbine.
