Samye Nell Ballard, 87, of Whitesboro, passed away on March 18, 2024. She was born on October 27, 1936, in Sadler, Texas to Albert Rodgers and Clay (Hall) Rodgers.
Samye married James David Ballard in Ft. Worth, Texas on April 17, 1959. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Collinsville, and graduated Whitesboro High School. Samye retired from Jack N Jen Daycare in Sherman. She was a member of Eastern Star, a Girl Scout Leader for years and loved games with her friends.
Samye is survived by her daughters, Janet Van Sandt and husband, Jack, Jr. of Winfield, Alabama; Kathy Jones and husband, Randy of Allen, Texas; Lynda Matthews and husband, Mark of Gainesville, Texas and Debra Ogden and husband, Chuck of The Colony, Texas; brother, James Rodgers and wife, Mary Nell of Whitesboro, Texas; grandchildren, Judy, MaryAnn, Alyssa, Alex, Logan, Magen, Mandy, Lesly, Jason & Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Emily, Scarlet, Madyson, Jackson, Athena, William, Cleo, Harper, Raiden, Bailey and Lincoln; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Wanda Dooley, Janie Russell, Cheryl Burge and Vicky Winchester.
Preceded in death by husband, James Ballard; parents, Albert and Clay Rodgers; grandson, Ethan Matthews; brothers, Harold Rodgers & Kenneth Rodgers; sisters, Eulene Laplant, Modene Bowen, Ruth Snow, Lois Sellers & Karen Murrell.
Pallbearers will be Jim Jack Rodgers, Jeffrey Perkins, Craig Sellers, Alex Jones, Jason Nowikowski & Logan Rankin.
A visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, from 6-8 p.m. at Meador Funeral Home, Hwy 377, Whitesboro. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. at Meador Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Carney officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sadler Cemetery, Sadler, Texas.
