Thomas Oran Taylor Obituary

Thomas Oran Taylor, 85, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at the McCurtain Memorial Hospital in Idabel, Oklahoma. He was born on Wednesday, November 15, 1939, to James Ira and Melba Taylor in Gainesville, Texas.

Tom was a devoted husband, father, and friend to many, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and laughter. His years in the U.S. Navy instilled in him a strong work ethic, which he carried into every aspect of his life, from working alongside his dad at Taylor Wrecking Yard to his many dedicated years in the oil field. Tom had a dry sense of humor that could bring a smile to anyone's face, and his love for his family was fierce and unwavering. He took great pride in his legendary brisket, BBQ sauce, salsa, and firecrackers, always eager to share them with those he cared about. Whether he was cooking up something special or simply spending time with loved ones, Tom's presence was a source of warmth and joy. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Tom was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Mary Lynette Taylor; his sisters, Patsy Seeds,

Dorma Taylor, and Glinda Thompson; his brother, Ken Taylor, and his grandson, Tony Taylor, as

well as his parents, James Ira and Melba Taylor.

of Idabel, Oklahoma; Damon Taylor and wife, Marinda of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Sheri Kennedy and husband, Charles of Whitesboro, Texas, Julie Mitchell and husband, Doug of Gainesville, Texas; his sister, Linda Aitchison; fourteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

A celebration of Tom's life will be held at a later date in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. Cremation services are entrusted to Bowser Family Funeral Home in Broken Bow, Oklahoma.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital or the

Shriners Hospital for Children in his honor.
