Germantown, Tennessee - Funeral services for Verla Gene Lambert, 82, of Germantown, TN will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Meador Funeral Home in Whitesboro with Chaplain George Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro. A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 9, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Meador Funeral Home.

Gene passed away on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at his home in Tennessee.

He was born on October 24, 1935 in Dexter, Texas to Opal Lee and Velma (Morrison) Lambert. After graduating from college, he went to work serving and protecting others throughout his life as a Police Officer in Denison, Texas and with the Grayson County Sherriff Department. He served as a Railroad Chief investigator with Frisco Railroad and as Supervisor through multiple states with the railroad. He was a proud Mason. Gene had his pilot license and was proud to own and fly his own plane.

Gene is survived by daughter, Debbie Freeman of Sherman, son, Brock Lambert of Desoto, ILL., sister, Barbara Shugart and husband, Edward of Callisburg, sister, Sue Shinpaugh of Gainesville, granddaughter, Shelley Jean Jones of Sherman, grandson, Justin Wayne Freeman of Denison, grandson, Liam Lambert of Desoto, ILL., two great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by parents, Opal and Velma Lambert and sister, Jerry Swircznski.
