Leonard Wayne Wheeler, affectionately known as "Pappy", passed away February 5, 2025 in Denton, TX at the age of 84.

Wayne was born August 20, 1940 in Dublin, TX. He graduated from Brownfield High School in 1959. Mr. Wheeler enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he was a CT Technician. He married Barbara Benson on December 21, 1962 in Lubbock, TX. Mr. Wheeler retired following a 40-year career as a Federal Compliance Officer with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. He was in the CB Club and was a Ham Radio Operator with the handle of "Crop Duster". The Wheelers also enjoyed their many years traveling with Good Sam's RV Club and were dedicated members of Garland Street Church of Christ (Plainview, TX) and Hillcrest Church of Christ (Gainesville, TX).

Survived by: wife Barbara Wheeler of Gainesville; son Jason Wheeler and wife Kaylene of Plainview; son Kevin Wheeler and wife Lauren of Gainesville; son-in-law Kelly Ferree of Houston; eight grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; sister-in-law Linda Trimmier of Lubbock; and numerous aunts and cousins that loved him very much.

Predeceased by: daughter Tracy Ferree and mother Theola Peterson.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.
